The Community

Situated in the beautiful Judean Hills that surround Jerusalem, Ramat Bet Shemesh Alef is only a 40 minute drive to Jerusalem. What started in 1998 as a suburb to Bet Shemesh has quickly become a top destination for religious Anglo Olim. RBS has earned a reputation as a warm and comfortable community for the religious population. 60% of the community are Israeli hebrew speakers and 40% are English speakers affording Tiferet students the comforts of familiarity and at the same time, the experience of living among Israelis.

Not to be confused with the chareidi population of Ramat Bet Shemesh Bet (a separate community about a mile away), RBS Aleph is a diverse community. Tiferet is located in the Modern Orthodox area of Aleph with over 7 dati-leumi Shuls in the immediate area. The city sponsors an elaborate Yom Haatzmaut program as well as special events in the JCC which Tiferet students take part in.

Tiferet has an adopted family program associated with the local Ahavat Tzion community. Tiferet students have the option of being adopted by local families that are Israeli, from Canada, England or the United States. This is another way for Tiferet students to make lasting relationships and to gain the experience of what it is like to live in Israel and be a part of the community.

Ramat Beit Shemesh is an area that is far from the Green Line, with a population that is all Jewish. Safe and inexpensive buses and van services are always available for Tiferet students traveling to Yerushalayim - only footsteps from the Tiferet campus.

There is also a new train station in Beit Shemesh that runs to and from Tel Aviv and Yerushalayim.
