Trip to Shilo, Elon Moreh and Itamar

On Thursday November 30th, we ventured out to the beautiful and historically rich Shomron.  Our first stop was the ancient city of Shilo.  We visited the archaeological excavation of the place where the Mishkan stood for 369 years.  We learned the first three perakim of Sefer Shmuel at precisely the place where the events took place.  It was especially inspiring to sing Tefillat Chana in the place where Chana recited her prayer.  After Shilo, we were treated to an awe-inspiring view from the village of Elon Moreh.  It was there that Avraham was told by G-d, “To your descendants will I give this land”.  We overlooked the place where Yosef was sold into slavery by his brothers on the week when this story is read in the Parsha.  We concluded our trip on a more sombre note when we visited the community of Itamar and listened to a presentation by a member of the community and neighbor of the Fogel family in a Shul dedicated to the victims of terror from Itamar.   The Tiferet students left the Shomron inspired by the beauty of the land, the courage and heroism of the Jews living there and seeing their Torah learning come to life.
