This week our students were privileged to fulfill the mitzva of tzedaka. We worked at Leket, an organization which, amongst other things, asks volunteers to pick vegetables from fields which are then sent straight to the poor. This is an even greater z’chut and responsibility this year, when the produce has the additional kedusha of the Shmita year. Afterwards, we davened mincha at the kever of Rabban Gamliel in Yavneh, and our students learned about the great act of chesed that had taken place at that very spot.
